Manny Pacquiao, Jessie Vargas Fight: Vargas Says He Will Defeat Pacman, Can He Gain Victory Over The People's Champ

Jessie Vargas appears confident that he will gain a victory over Manny Pacquiao in what proves to be one of the biggest fights of his career on Saturday, Nov. 5. Vargas asserts that he will prove his worth to the boxing community by defeating a Pacquiao who is "still performing at a high level."

In an interview with The Ring, Vargas said that he was glad to witness Pacquiao fight well against Timothy Bradley so that he will be able to beat a "good" Pacquiao. Vargas won his last match against Sadam Ali via knockout in March.

Vargas believes he has numerous advantages over Pacquiao to help him claim the victory on Saturday. Among the advantages he mentioned are his: speed, height, reach, power, ring intelligence, and footwork. Pacquiao is widely known for his fast speed and footwork in addition to punching power.

Pacquiao earlier announced his retirement after his third fight with Bradley in April. Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum somehow convinced him to return for a fight with Vargas. Pacquiao also has a seat in the Philippine senate which requires a lot of attention from him.

Vargas also fought Bradley last year and lost via decision. Pundits believe Bradley deserved the win, but the fight was filled with controversy nonetheless because of an early end to the 12th round due to an error by referee Pat Russel. Russel thought he heard the bell, but it was not ringing.

He stated that he is in the best shape of his life, adding that he has never felt greater. He further claims that he has been waiting for this moment since he was an eight-year-old.

Vargas believes that defeating Pacquiao will get him on the worldwide stage, just like the few who were able to beat Pacquiao. Vargas also considers his current self to be in his prime, and that on Nov. 5, he will be performing at the highest level.

Is Vargas going to pull a surprising upset against Pacquiao? Will Pacquiao be distracted by the work he has as a senator?
