"The Defenders" on Netflix is set to debut in 2017 and has already started filming in New York. Cast sightings reveal that "Jessica Jones" star Krysten Ritter has shot some of her scenes.
Marvel has also confirmed that "The Defenders" will run for eight episodes in the first season. But the show will have a long list of cast members who have appeared in other Netflix-Marvel collaborative series. So, who else is "The Defenders" aside from Daredevil, Luke Cage, the Iron Fist and Jessica Jones?
Leaked photos from "The Defenders" set reveal that Jessica Jones has come face to face with Misty Knight (Simone Missick) from "Luke Cage." Screen Rant reports on the possible reasons for this encounter. One, Misty might not be aware of Jessica Jones' connection to Luke Cage and she has foiled the private investigator at work. Two, Misty might be tracking down Luke Cage, which leads her to Jessica. But because they still don't know they have a common friend, the encounter should get heated -- which should explain the blood on Jessica's face.
Aside from Misty Knight, other secondary characters confirmed to appear on "The Defenders" include "Daredevil's" Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and "Jessica Jones'" Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville) and Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss). In early October, it was revealed that Sigourney Weaver has been cast as the main villain in "The Defenders." But Comic Book Movie cites, the character she will be playing in the Netflix series is still being kept as a secret.
Meanwhile, Marvel has confirmed that "The Defenders" will have a limited 8-episode run in a press release. Director S.J. Clarkson has been tasked to helm the first two episodes. She is also the main director for "Jessica Jones."
With "The Defenders" clearly shaping up, all that's left for Netflix and Marvel to announce is if the show will also have "The Punisher" in the series. For now, check at this video below with the main cast coming together to welcome Sigourney Weaver.
