'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date, Latest News Update: Sora To Get New Weapon And Other New Things About The Square Enix Game

Square Enix surprised "Kingdom Hearts" fanatics with a pair of screenshots featuring a newly armed Sora. The gaming company behind a plethora of successful titles released the sneak peek during the Paris Games Week.

Techno Buffalo reports that "Kingdom Hearts III" will feature a new Drive Form for Sora, the Guard Form. From what used to be his Keyblade, the new Guard Form appears to be a hybrid of a hammer and Hercules' shield.

It can also be noted that the new screenshots were placed in Mt. Olympus, giving an indication that "Kingdom Hearts III" will be employing more elements from the Greek-themed Disney classic, Hercules. The "Kingdom Hearts" franchise is no stranger to these Herculean elements as Square Enix already employed a few in "Kingdom Hearts II."

As for the hotly anticipated release date of "Kingdom Hearts III," PlayStation Lifestyle notes that it will be available after the release of "Kingdom Hearts 2.8." The role-playing game's second installment update will be released in January 2017.

Moreover, Square Enix stated in a tweet that fanatics should stay tuned in the upcoming weeks as collaborative works are in the process. First of which was announced on Oct. 27, teasing both "Kingdom Hearts" and "World of Final Fantasy" faithfuls as Sora will join the "Final Fantasy" world.

As previously reported by Parent Herald, "Kingdom Hearts" creator, Tetsuya Nomura, apologized for the slow development of "Kingdom Hearts 3." However, he left something for the fans to serve as a clue while waiting for the latest "Kingdom Hearts" installment.

Nomura said that if fanatics would be keen observers, a few clues can be noticed in the previous "Kingdom Hearts" artworks. The clues involved how Sora moves--from sitting to standing to walking--and how the setting in the artworks changes--from dusk to night to dawn.
