The director of "Ant-Man," Peyton Reed, has already put a borderline when it comes to rumors of MCU crossovers specifically with "Ant-Man." The temptation of doing a crossover is non-existent, and Reed mentions that he likes the little "Ant-Man" corner of the universe.
Peyton Reed has explained about the "Ant-Man" story intention and having a whole different vibe. Scott Lang being the "Ant-Man" is the kind of guy who is unsure if he's the full superhero, Avenger-style life, according to Digital Spy.
"Ant-Man" has already worked alongside Cap in "Captain America: Civil War." Although "Ant-Man" is drafted as a superhero, his motivations for doing it is more for his family's safety and being a father sets him apart from the MCU heroes.
Peyton Reed explained that "Ant-Man" having a kid is a conflict, and that he's a normal guy who just happened to come across with some people with power, according to Cinemablend. Reed added that there are a lot more in store for Scott Lang being the "Ant-Man."
Peyton Reed is directing "Ant-Man and the Wasp" as of the moment, and the director's ownership of the character is what sets the hero apart from the rest of the MCU. James Gunn is another director with a similar position as Reed, however, Gunn doesn't need to worry yet about crossovers.
"Ant-Man" will be played again by Paul Rudd/Scott Lang in the sequel alongside Hope Van Dyne (played by Evangeline Lilly). "Ant-Man and the Wasp" haven't revealed details yet about the storyline, however, the second installment will be directed by Peyton Reed.
Peyton Reed has expressed his excitement in introducing another character into the Marvel Universe. Reed added that after "Ant-Man," now the "Wasp" will be introduced and will be played by Evangeline Lilly. "Ant-Man and the Wasp" will be released in theaters in July 2018.
