Netflix's ‘Series of Unfortunate Events’ Update: New Trailer Highlights Neil Patrick Harris’ Chilling Count Olaf; Concept Art For Future Episodes Revealed

Netflix recently released a teaser trailer for the latest adaptation of Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events." The clip, along with new photos, showcased Neil Patrick Harris' chilling take on the villainous Count Olaf as well as the Baudelaire siblings -- Violet (Malina Weismann), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and baby Sunny.

Harris' Count Olaf portrayal was a more reserved depiction compared to Jim Carey's in the 2004 movie. In the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" teaser trailer, the Baudelaire siblings called Count Olaf as "horrible" and "awful," to which the villain replied, "You haven't the faintest idea." Watch the new teaser for "A Series of Unfortunate Events" below.

Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" recalls the story of the Baudelaire orphans, who were entrusted in the care of their evil guardian Count Olaf. The villain "will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance" and the three children "must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents' mysterious death," ScreenCrush reported.

Violet, the eldest Baudelaire, is depicted in the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" books and in the 2004 film as an inventor. Klaus is a wide reader and little Sunny enjoys biting things with her sharp teeth.

The "A Series of Unfortunate Events" teaser trailer showcased a newspaper that featured some concept art for future episodes, specifically episodes three and four. Check it out here.

The image showed The Reptile Room, the title of the second "A Series of Unfortunate Events" book. In the 2004 movie, The Reptile Room is owned by the kindly Uncle Monty, a relative of the Baudelaires and whom they lived with briefly after escaping Count Olaf's clutches. Unfortunately, Uncle Monty was killed by Count Olaf in disguise.

All eight episodes of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will bow on Netflix on January 13, 2017. The TV show, which was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, also stars Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket and Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss.
