‘Scandal’ Season 6 Spoilers & New Teaser: Olivia & Fitz Reconciling? Scott Foley Hopeful About Olivia & Jake

A new "Scandal" teaser trailer was recently released. Though brief, the promo raised plenty of questions that will no doubt get answered when Season 6 premieres.

"Scandal" lead star Kerry Washington, who portrays Olivia Pope in ABC's political drama, shared the teaser trailer via Twitter on Nov. 2. The actress also revealed that the official "Scandal" Season 6 trailer will be unveiled on Thursday, Nov. 3. Watch the promo below.

The newly released teaser got "Scandal" viewers wondering why former U.S. President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) is consoling Olivia aside from looking stressed. There is also the matter of the exploding cabin and whether anyone important was inside it.

There was no official premiere date for "Scandal" Season 6 yet but it was announced that it will return in early 2017 to accommodate Washington's pregnancy, Den of Geek reported. The season premiere will happen on election night and Jake's (Scott Foley) wife Vanessa will now be portrayed by former "Glee" actress Jessalyn Gilsig after Joelle Carter departed from the role.

"Scandal" Season 6 will only have 16 episodes as opposed to the typical 22-episode season, according to TVLine. There are speculations that Olivia and Fitz would rekindle their romance in Season 6 after the couple's abortion brouhaha. Olivia had their child aborted and by the time Fitz knew about the matter, he can no longer do anything about it.

In an interview with Variety, Foley said that Olivia and Fitz are finally over but the latter could still have feelings for her. Foley said that Olivia and Fitz could still have something "when he's out of the White House."

The "Scandal" actor, however, wants to see Olivia "on her own for a bit" and "making choices that make her happy, regardless of the men in her life." At the same time, Foley believes that "there's always hope" for Olivia and Jake even though the former sacrificed her love for him before he married Vanessa.

"Scandal" Season 6 will tackle Mellie (Bellamy Young) being running mates with Jake for the U.S. presidential elections. If they win, this puts Jake in near proximity with his ex-girlfriend, Olivia. This possibility could incite jealousy in Fitz even though he trusts Jake in a professional manner.

Young believes that Fitz would learn how to look past his jealousy over Olivia and Jake. The actress pointed out that the end of "Scandal" Season 5 showcased a "really open-hearted" Fitz. This development also helped Fitz accept Olivia's abortion.
