"Mortal Kombat X's" rumored "Kombat Pack 3" DLC may not be released anytime soon due to NeatherRealm's focus on its other fighting game, "Injustice 2". Rumors of this new DLC started cropping up as early as the 2nd DLC pack's release.
This rumor likely started a short while before the EVO 2016 event last July when the game director Ed Boon mentioned "EVO" in his tweets. Although he never directly said anything about a new "Mortal Kombat X" DLC, it hasn't stopped the fans from speculating the possible release of a "Kombat Pack 3".
"Kombat Pack 3" is expected to contain new playable characters. In "Mortal Kombat X" characters such as Baraka, Rain and Sindel only appeared as story-mode opponents.
Other characters from older installments which include Fujin, Smoke, Sector, and many others only make cameo appearances in some cutscenes. It is expected that the new DLC will make some of those unplayable characters playable and perhaps with their own unique storylines woven into the game's plot.
Another thing that the "Kombat Pack 3" DLC is expected to address is the unbalanced characters. Some players of the game have noticed that some characters seem to have a somewhat unfair advantage over others, which make some characters either too powerful or too weak. Fans have been anticipating some sort of patch to balance the characters in the game.
As great as the DLC may sound, unfortunately, NeatherRealm has its hands full at the moment with "Injustice 2" the 2nd installment to the hit fighting game "Injustice: Gods Among Us" wherein players can play as characters from the DC universe.
As of now, there is no definite date set for "Kombat Pack 3", perhaps it is already in development or maybe it never will be, or perhaps it's just the wild speculation of eager fans, who just can't get enough of this awesome franchise that has spanned more than a decade.
