The fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire" series have been anticipating for the sixth installment of the said book. With the fifth book released in 2011, it has been already four years of waiting, yet the famous novelist, George R.R. Martin, is still working on it. However, we are already in the third quarter of the year and Martin already hinted that "Winds of Winter" will be released before the next season of "Game of Thrones,"so, probably, the anticipated novel will be available in the first quarter of the following year.
According to Day Herald, Martin is a busy man after the success of "Game of Thrones," which was based on his book. The writer is occupied with different commitments from editing scripts to traveling all over the world for book signing deals. He admitted earlier that he cannot concentrate on his writing when he is not in his home and on his desk. Perhaps, by the time he reached home from prior commitments, the excitement of working on the next installment of his novel "A Song of Ice and Fire" has cooled down. This could be the reason that it has taken years, and the anticipated book is still not available.
However, good news for the fans of the said book, the best-selling New Mexico writer has prepared an exciting twist for the upcoming novel. "This is going to drive your readers crazy," the author teases. He continued, "but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations," Entertainment Weekly reports.
"Game of Thrones " season 6 is likely to debut in late March or mid-April and with Martin committed to finishing the book before the said date, "Winds of Winter" will likely be released not later than mid-March next year, according to Venture Capital Post.
On the other hand, the 66-year-old author expressed his disappointment on how Marvel designed their villains. The novelist wrote in his live journal, Not a Blog, "I am tired of this Marvel movie trope where the bad guy has the same powers as the hero. The Hulk fought the Abomination, who is just a bad Hulk. Spider-Man fights Venom, who is just a bad Spider-Man. Iron Man fights Ironmonger, a bad Iron Man. Yawn. I want more films where the hero and the villain have wildly different powers. That makes the action much more interesting."
However, Martin further admits on his live journal that he is still a Marvel fan. He finds Marvel's hit movie "Ant-Man" to have the proper combination of story, character, humor and action. While others think it is the best Marvel movie, for the writer, it only comes second to Sam Raimi/Tobey McGuire's "Spider-Man" film, the one with Doc Ock.
