'Krypton' Superman TV Prequel On Syfy: Main Cast Is Complete With 'Game Of Thrones' Actor - Everything To Know

Syfy is preparing a TV prequel on the life of Superman's family. The show, entitled "Krypton," has already picked its principal cast members, which will include a former "Game of Thrones" actor. Here's everything a fan of the superhero and the "Superman" mythology should know about the upcoming television show.

"Krypton" on Syfy will take place decades before the destruction of Superman's planet. The show's main focus will be on Seg-El, who is known in the DC Comics series as Superman's ancestor.

Playing Seg-El on "Krypton" is Cameron Cuffe, who is a theater actor from London, reports Deadline. His character is described as someone brilliant with technology and the House of El on "Krypton" used to be a powerful family on the planet. But because of a crucial incident, Seg-El and the rest of his family have been ostracized by high society and downgraded to the lowest caste.

Joining Cameron Cuffe is Georgina Campbell as Seg-el's love interest Lyta Zod. She belongs to a high profile military family on "Krypton" and their relationship is being kept a secret.

Also in the cast of "Krypton" are Aaron Pierre, Elliot Cowan, Rasmus Hardiker Ann Ogbomo and Wallis Day. "Game of Thrones" actor Ian McElhinney also has a crucial role as Val-El, Seg-El's grandfather. TV Line reports that his character is a space exploration expert who knows that something is up with the planet Krypton.

Working behind the set of "Krypton" is writer David S. Goyer, who is credited for the screenplay for "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice." He will also serve as executive producer of the show along with Ian Goldberg. Colm McCarthy will direct the pilot episode of "Krypton" with Damian Kindler as showrunner.

Syfy has not yet set the air date for "Krypton" on its cable channel. Filming the series' pilot episode will take place in Serbia at a still unannounced date. B29 reports that the crew has already met with the Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to discuss the show's production overseas.
