Following several seasons of "Homeland" taking place overseas, the sixth installment, which premieres on Showtime on Jan. 15, 2017, is settling down in New York City. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) returns and stays puts on U.S. grounds but the confrontation, tension and terror that existed in past seasons still won't elude her.
The new teaser to "Homeland" Season 6, which Showtime released over the weekend, features a montage of scenes that suggests Carrie Mathison is still knee-deep with CIA issues. She has a confrontation with CIA head Dal Adal (F. Murray Abraham) and a talk with her former CIA mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).
The "Homeland" Season 6 teaser shows that despite Carrie Mathison supposedly leaving the service to work in an NGO for Muslim affairs, she can't completely shake off her previous job. But what does the CIA still want with her?
In another "Homeland" Season 6 teaser via Yahoo, Muslims remain the target of searches and Homeland Security operations. Carrie Mathison confronts Dal Adal in the video, where she tells him that it's the government who needs to stand down and not her.
The Hollywood Reporter cites that "Homeland" Season 6 will take place a few months after Season 5's end. The upcoming installment will span a short timeline between Election Day and the ascent to power of the newly-elected president, Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel).
"Homeland" Season 6 will expectedly have a lot of political maneuvering as the period between Election Day and inauguration is crucial. Also, guest starring are Robert Knepper, Dominic Fumusa, Patrick Sabongui and Hill Harper.
Fans of "Homeland" Season 6 might have noticed the absence of Rupert Friend in the teasers, but the actor is still very much part of the show. In fact, he was seen filming his scenes on the streets of New York when the show got back to production in August, as Parent Herald previously reported.
