It looks like Zayn Malik is moving on to a different boyband. After One Direction, the group he quit in early 2015, the heartthrob is set to be involved in "Boys" for NBC.
The project is a TV show that is about a group of young men who have become a successful boyband, much like the "Pillowtalk" singer's experience in real life. Talks are that Zayn Malik might also be starring on the show he is producing for the American TV network.
Zayn Malik is reportedly in serious talks to produce "Boys" with the help of Dick Wolf and his wife Noelle. Wolf is a TV legend credited for the long-running hit series "Law & Order" and the "Chicago" franchise on NBC.
NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke confirmed that the network has discussed "Boys" with the former One Direction member. "Zayn certainly brings an authentic point of view to this world where kids are catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed," Salke said, Variety reports.
According to CNN, "Boys" will show viewers both the pressure and fun of becoming a worldwide success. The network's plan is for "Boys" to become "integrated on broadcast and digital platforms." Creating original music and casting is in the next phase of the development.
The Sun reports that aside from producing the television show, Zayn Malik might also be appearing on a few episodes on "Boys." The young star is apparently eager to begin his acting career and would be in a lucky place to also have creative control over this.
It should not come as a surprise if Zayn Malik gets a part on "Boys." Mirror notes that he originally wanted to be an actor in Hollywood even before One Direction. ""The acting completely stopped because I joined the band," Zayn Malik said, adding, "I'd definitely be interested if I was given the right part."
Details as to when "Boys" is expected to debut on air are still unavailable. Keep checking back to this site for more updates about Zayn Malik and "Boys" on NBC.
