Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan" reboot in Amazon has landed its female lead. Abbie Cornish has been cast in the television series which will feature John Krasinski as the iconic character Jack Ryan.
Abbie Cornish, who starred in the movie "Limitless" with Bradley Cooper in 2011, will play the role of Cathy Mueller on "Jack Ryan." The character is Jack Ryan's love interest and is described as an intelligent and competitive medical doctor specializing in infectious diseases, Deadline reports.
"Jack Ryan" on Amazon will be a 10-episode television series, which will take Tom Clancy's literary hero to the small screen for the first time. Produced by Carlton Cuse ("Lost" and "Bates Motel"), the show will supposedly have a movie production budget and a movie-like storyline that viewers will get to see in 10 parts.
Production for the "Jack Ryan" TV show will begin in early 2017. It is expected that Amazon will launch the show on its streaming site in late 2017, according to We Got This Covered. The first season of "Jack Ryan" will tackle ISIS. The plot will center on Jack Ryan as a CIA analyst who will come across communications from terrorists hinting of a global destruction, according to The Wrap.
John Krasinski is quite excited to play the part of America's James Bond. He told Harper's Bazaar that he's got big shoes to fill, knowing that the character has been played by the likes of Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine in the big screen. "I'm terrified to fill the shoes of all these great actors, but I'm happy that it's a completely different thing," the actor said.
