'Jurassic World 2' Release Date & Trailer: Sequel Plot To Focus On Dino-Tech? Yes! Says Director -- Details

Fans of the highly successful "Jurassic World" movie, here's exciting news for you.

"Jurassic World," the fourth installment to Jurassic Park, is going to have a sequel on June 22, 2018, according to Techno Buffalo.

The news outlet reports that "Jurassic World," despite receiving mediocre reviews from critics, has become a huge success — even grossing more than Joss Whedon's "The Avengers."

People loved the dinosaur movie so much that it has become the third top-grossing movie of all time, following only after Titanic and Avatar.

According to Wired, "Jurassic World" reached gross box-office sales of $1.5 billion worldwide.

Though the sequel is confirmed to come, there are many things yet to be known about it. The report further reveals that the sequel will still have Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It will be written by "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow and produced by Steven Spielberg.

The official title, plot and director are still unknown as of the moment, but Trevorrow, in an interview with Wired, offered some hints as to what moviegoers could expect.

"Whether or not I am involved in later installments or not, I felt it was important for me to set the table," Trevorrow said.

So far, the earlier installments involved a lot of running away from dinosaurs. Trevorrow says that this kind of idea will "get old real fast."

"[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island," he adds.

"Jurassic World" introduced the idea of using the dinosaurs as weapons. InGen officer, Victor Hoskins (played by Vincent D'Onofrio), was intent on harnessing the possible use of the dinosaurs as better weapons, and his pursuit led to his demise in the movie.

Dr. Wu, the scientist who was responsible for the development of the dinosaurs, carried with him some embryos while escaping with InGen nearing the end of the movie. That leaves moviegoers with the questions of what did he develop this time or what will happen to those embryos.

Trevorrow says, "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment."

He also notes Dr. Wu in the film saying, "We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur," stressing that it is an "interesting idea."

"What if this went open source? It's almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?" he adds.

Whatever the sequel may bring, we can only know when the "Jurassic World" sequel is released in 2018.
