While Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout won the American League MVP award on Thursday, the Chicago Cubs Kris Bryant was voted as a National League MVP. They will share a stage in New York to receive their trophies as most valuable players: one comes from a great team, the other from a not-so great team.
New York Times reported that Chicago Cubs Kris Bryant hit a home run to start the Chicago Cubs' scoring in Game 5 of the World Series last month and did it gain in Game 6. In Game 7, he fielded a grounder and lost his balance but still he made the throw that finally gave the Cubs their first championship in 108 years.
According to ABC Sports News, Bryant hit a total 292 with 39 homers and 102 RBIs in just his second year in the major league. This had helped the Cubs to their first World Series title since 1908. The No. 2 overall pick from the 2013 draft becomes just the sixth player to win rookie of the year and became the MVP in one consecutive season.
Chicago Cubs Kris Bryant who is set to get married in January said that this year has certainly been one of the best years of his life.
While the Los Angeles Angels finished fourth in the American League, Mike Trout was in his usual brilliant play. The center fielder batted a total of 315 with 29 homers, 100 RBIs, and 30 steals. Trout also scored 17 percent of Los Angeles' runs, which was the highest percentage for an American League player since Rickey Henderson with the 1985 New York Yankees.
Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout told the media that at the end of the season, a lot of people were asking him about the same question. They keep on asking him if Trout's team has a losing record, will it hurt his chances of getting the MVP award?
And Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout answered that he guessed it didn't matter.
Do you think both of them deserved the MVP Awards?
