As we all know, during the election campaign of the future POTUS Donald Trump, he stressed his complaint about how America lost a lot of jobs to people abroad. He has demanded several companies, such as Apple, to resume manufacturing in the US. Apple has not given any confirmation regarding the shift but rather showed how the multinational tech company empowers its workforce.
In our previous report, Apple CEO Tim Cook addressed this issue saying that Apple is unlikely to move manufacturing in the United States despite the imposing tariffs. However, he suggested opening a smartphone factory to give employment for America's working class, most especially those who lack college degrees.
There are 69 supplier facilities in 33 states which manufacture parts for products. 80,000 people are employed in the US and more than hundreds of thousands software developers are hired to write applications for Apple's gadgets. Clearly, Apple's contribution to the US economy is significant.
Apple's future expansion plans have not been fully revealed. Apple plans to invest and expand in Austin and in the United States.
Reports have it that since the introduction of iPhone, Apple has already created more than two million jobs in the US. These include iOS developers, suppliers and manufacturing partners and employee teams or rank and file staff.
In Austin, Apple employees shared how the company encourages them and provides them a formal program which allows workers to try a different role to check if it suits them best. Austin's economy is rooted in technology. It is a home to several big technology employers such as Samsung, Dell, and Apple.
There is still no confirmation on what action Apple is going to take with future POTUS Donald Trump's demand to bring back manufacturing jobs in the US. Let's just hope everything turns out for the better.
