"The Big Bang Theory" is known for focusing on the friendships, relationships, and social struggles of scientific geniuses. The long-running CBS sitcom, however, also touched on pregnancy and more specifically, its pro-life stance.
In the eighth episode titled "The Brain Bowl Incubation" of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 10, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) succeeded in creating brain cells from their skin cells in a petri dish. This made Sheldon feel proud and paternal, which was something that Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) didn't approve of, according to Live Action News.
Sheldon compared the experiment to Bernadette's unborn baby, saying that it was "nice to share this experience with someone who's on the same journey." However, Sheldon also pointed out that his and Amy's "child" is "testing off the charts" while Bernadette and Howard's (Simon Helberg) is "floating around in its own waste."
Bernadette then emphasized that her baby has "functioning organs and can recognize voices," as well as "a fully developed immune system." Sheldon didn't back down, saying that his experiment "can recognize a specific data stream among background noise."
It's interesting how "The Big Bang Theory" highlights the amazing stuff that happens in a woman's womb during pregnancy. Clapping, sucking the thumb, and recognizing voices are some examples of a baby's brain function, motor skill, and development that will advance as he/she grows older. Scientists such as the characters on "The Big Bang Theory" know these things "because science proves it" and it ascertains that life begins inside the womb since conception, Live Action News wrote.
This wasn't the first time that "The Big Bang Theory" expressed -- albeit indirectly -- its pro-life stance. In a "The Big Bang Theory" episode back in April, Bernadette and Howard were told that they "made a person" and in an October episode, Howard felt their baby kick in Bernadette's womb after saying that he doesn't connect pregnancy to babies.
Episode 10 of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 10 airing in December will showcase Sheldon and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) in dispute over their furniture's division. This disagreement will cause Sheldon to rent out Leonard's apartment for $1 per night to guest star Christopher Lloyd. Leonard and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) will be stunned when they see the old man in their apartment.
Howard will be pissed that Stuart (Kevin Sussman) is living with him and Bernadette because of an eviction notice. Raj (Kunal Nayyar) visits Howard and he will fight with Stuart over who will best take care of the couple's baby.
