As The CW superhero crossover is set to kick off after next week's episode of "Supergirl," Season 2 Episode 7 of the show disclosed many surprises including the first appearance of the real Hank Henshaw as Cyborg Superman in the series. Warning: this article contains major spoilers from "Supergirl" Season 2 Episode 7.
While J'onn J'onzz has allegedly died in the midst of his hunt for Martian Manhunter, the real Hank Henshaw has been with the Cadmus for 15 years, aiding in the eradication of aliens from Earth. Additionally, he has gone through a series of enhancements, and now calls himself "Cyborg Superman."
According to TV Guide, the debut of Cyborg Superman in the series is a major pay off for comic book fans who have been aware of the identity of Hank Henshaw as the alter ego of Cyborg Superman. In the comic books, Henshaw is a former astronaut who badly burned his body because of a solar flare induced by Superman. Thereafter, he was able to ray his consciousness to the Kryptonian birthing matrix which brought Superman to Earth as a child. This enabled Henshaw to become Cyborg Superman.
On "Supergirl," Cyborg Superman is a Cadamus upgrade to Hank Henshaw. He is as powerful as a Kryptonian, although his full capacity is yet to be witnessed. In Episode 7 of Season 2, Cyborg Superman used the blood of Kara to obtain information with regards to Superman and Project Medusa, a virus which could bring death to any alien within the vicinity. It is also possible that at the end of Season 2, we could be seeing another Kryptonian doomsday device, as per Vulture.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah Danvers made a brief return to "Supergirl" to help Kara and Mon-El escape when Project Cadmus had them locked up. However, the Cadmus guards were able to get Danvers before he could have escaped with his adopter daughter.
Subsequently, Mon-El declared his crush for Kara, and TV Guide suggests that it might be mutual. In Episode 7, while the two were stuck in one cage, Kara made mention of how Mon-El is worth saving. Does Kara actually have a crush on Mon-El?
