Mental illness in teens is seen prevalent to a high degree. Most of the children are facing anxiety and depression. In most of the cases, the situation tends to get much serious. Various techniques are being adopted to recognize mental illness among children and steps are being taken towards bettering the health of children who are mostly found experiencing mood swings and aggressive outbursts, especially teenagers.
While looking for the key factors to tackle this issue, neighborhood environments should be given prime importance. These neighbor-to-neighbor associations can very well play the role of boosting up teens' mental well-being. A survey was conducted and it has been reported that neighborhood environments do play a role in this regard. The results were similar in families with low-income scale.
Social cohesion and blend of mutual expectation was found to affect the mental illness in two different aspects. In the first aspect, the neighbors were socially connected. The neighborhood environment was based on mutual trust. This helped the children to tackle their depression.
According to UPI, such environments are basically playing the same role as any other support programs.Healthy competitions, contests and sharing ideas are some of the common things of a socially connected neighborhood which in turn helps treat mental illness in teens'.
In another aspect of this survey, it was found out that societies in which people are living on their own,not aware of the happening in neighbor's houses did not help in tackling mental illness. People were found to show no concern for each other. In such environments where no one is connected socially,is promoting isolation, which is not good for a child's mental health, according to Live News Today.
Good family type social environments should be promoted. People should interact with each other more in the neighborhood. The environment should be based on mutual trust,as this positive environment plays a vital role in building up a child's mind.Such environments can help to improve the increasing mental illness among children.
