With the Launch of the HTC Bolt in the US as a Sprint-exclusive device, HTC announced a different device, named HTC 10 EVO, coming out to Europe and UK.
According to Engadget, the HTC 10 EVO does not have an exact date of launch yet or even specific price upon launch, but could be priced at around £450 and £500 in the UK. Also, the HTC 10 EVO would not be partnering with any carrier in Europe, unlike the HTC Bolt in the US.
Comparing the HTC 10 EVO to HTC's flagship phone HTC 10, the HTC 10 EVO has a few upgraded specs like the 8 megapixel front camera and an Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The HTC 10 only has a 5 megapixel front camera and has not yet upgraded to 7.0 Nougat. Further, the HTC 10 EVO will be 5.5 inch, towering over the 5.2-inch HTC 10.
The USB-C adaptive earphones of the HTC 10 EVO were also upgraded compared to the HTC 10. In the HTC 10, the personalized audio profile needed to be set up manually by providing feedback to certain tones. On the other hand, in the HTC 10 EVO, the profile is created automatically and will adapt to the environment.
The Express mentioned that the HTC 10 EVO doesn't have an earphone jack like that of Apple's iPhone 7, while the HTC 10 is equipped with the standard 3.5mm earphone jack. In order to use earphones on the HTC 10 EVO, users will need to use a USB-type earphone or use Bluetooth headphones.
Despite the upgrades, the HTC 10 EVO is only a sub-flagship of the HTC 10 and has slightly lower specs when it comes to processing power. The HTC 10 runs on Snapdragon 820, with a 4 GB RAM and up to 256 GB of expandable storage. The HTC 10 EVO runs on the lower Snapdragon 810 chipset and has only 3 GB of RAM with 32GB expandable memory. Essentially, the HTC Bolt and HTC 10 EVO are just the same device both in specs and processing power.
The HTC 10 EVO won't go into stores in Europe. Instead, it will be sold online. There has been no announcement yet as to where the phone can be bought.
