If there's one thing that makes "Star Wars" stand out from all other space operas out there, then it's the franchise's musical score which was headed previously by John Williams. Now it is also Michael Giacchino's, score composer of "Rogue One", intention to leave the vast majority of fans of the "Star Wars" franchise to instantly recognize the movie from just hearing the score.
Youtube has tons of videos of fans covering the "Star Wars" themes on every instrument available from acapella renditions to full orchestras. Some well-known themes are the main theme that first came out during "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" and "The Imperial March" which most associate Darth Vader's grand entrance. This familiarity with the theme puts a great pressure on the score composer of the upcoming film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".
Michael Giacchino has admitted that he had some big shoes to fill. John Williams, the composer of the original score of "Star Wars", has created such an iconic theme that has put the series in the hall of fame of the most memorable and recognizable themes of Hollywood. The "Stars Wars" theme stands among the ranks of other memorable musical scores such as "Superman", "Indiana Jones", and "Jurassic Park".
According to CinemaBlend, Michael Giacchino has expressed that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will make use of some of the original score from John Williams. The musical score of "Rogue One" will be somewhat distinct but will still have the feel of the "Star Wars" scores that the fans have come to know and love.
Based on all the trailers released so far, there have been hints of the score specifically for "Rogue One" as well as the iconic theme from John Williams' original score. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is set to be released to theaters just a few days before Christmas. The movie is slated to be shown on December 16.
