The premiere date of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" has finally arrived. Fans have waited nine years to see Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham reprise their roles as Rory and Lorelai so the launching of the revival series was met with much enthusiasm and clamor. Below are some of the highlights in its "Winter" episode.
The "first offering of the Gilmore Girls" revival is a treat for all fans which have missed the show because almost everything about the premiere seems intended to make the followers feel nostalgic. The music, setting, and everything about the Stars Hollow look and feel just the same.
Rory has a new boyfriend named Paul but he doesn't seem to matter much to anyone, especially to Rory who keeps on forgetting him. Then Rory will be seen in an apartment in London, and from one of the room, who would emerge but Logan (Matt Czuchry), one of Rory's ex-beau. Apparently, the former sweethearts agree to meet up every now and then and then will now know that Rory plans to break up with Paul as published in Heavy.
Lorelai is also thinking about having a child with Luke (Scott Patterson) and suggested surrogacy, which the latter doesn't seem to approve of. Paris (Liza Weil) will try to convince the couple though to try surrogacy, even offering a discount.
Meanwhile, a flashback scene in "Gilmore Girs" revival will let the viewers know about a bitter fight that ensued between Lorelai and Emily (Kelly Bishop) right after the funeral of Richard (played by the late Edward Hermann). The two women were left with each other after all the visitors are gone and Rory had to leave for a flight.
Their nasty fight which made Lorelai cry in the end can be considered a slight deviation from the general light and funny theme of the show, yet it s a subtle sign that the show may want to present a new side of the main characters. According to TV Line, this scene is probably the most memorable from the "Winter" episode.
The two appears to have made up in the end as Emily thank her daughter for suggesting a psychiatrist but then coerced Lorelai to go with her. The ending may a bit hanging but then again, you have three more 90-minute episodes to catch.
