The remake of the Japanese anime series GoLion, "Voltron: Defender of the Universe", is coming to Netflix after the series will be sent back to Japan. Recent reports suggest that the new "Voltron" movie gets two release dates.
The anime series "Voltron" was re-created into an American show by Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery under DreamWorks Animation. Just recently, Netflix Japan revealed "Voltron" arrival in their library on Jan 20, 2016, as an exclusive.
"Voltron Legendary Defender", the GoLion remake which had been aired globally, was first shown on June 10, 2016, and had received many positive reviews. Now, its second installment is already underway.
Reports have it that the movie will have two release dates. The initial premiere of the live-action movie will be in the United States, on Jan 20, 2017, and will be aligned with the "Voltron" series premiere in Japan.
Thanks to DreamWorks Animation (now Universal Pictures) "Voltron: Legendary Defender" reinvents one of the renowned comedic action-packed anime series. The show's voice cast includes Kimberly Brooks (Princess Allura), Rhys Darby as (Coran), Jeremy Shada (Blue Lion), Josh Keaton (Black Lion), Steven Yeun (Red Lion), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Green Lion), and Tyler Labine (Yellow Lion).
The series was adapted from the Japanese Anime Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV. "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" was first released in the United States in 1984 and became a pop-culture sensation. This resulted in several reboot attempts.
In 1986, "Voltron: Fleet of Doom" was released as a TV special. "The Third Dimension" followed in 1998 with only 26 episodes while Nickelodeon gave a shot and attempted a reboot in 2011 - "Voltron Force".
According to recent reports, "Voltron Legendary Defender's" production may encounter a slight hiccup. Its fate depends on the show's viewership. If the series will not pick up viewership, showrunners might opt to halt "Voltron's" production.
