Beauty Apps For Kids: Why Using A Mobile App That Makes Children Look Prettier Deemed As A Problem

Beauty is skin deep, no matter how fascinating the saying is, the reality is somehow very different. Plastic standards of beauty are misleading the young generation. Celebrities Style and trends are followed mostly by teens and youngsters.

According to Independent Irish News, smartphone apps to enhance beauty by altering facial features is very famous among children. The apps advertise to make faces beautiful by slimming them and changing the eye shape; it also displays pictures of children before and after the effects of the app. Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to children strongly opposed such apps.

Experts say that these apps can undermine children's confidence and cause stress and anxieties, and may lead to long-term problems. They emphasized the importance of letting children be children and not putting them under the pressure of becoming an adult with such unnatural alternatives.

Daily Mail also pointed out the same issue, regarding the face slimming apps controversial and inappropriate for young children. A particular app called Slim booth is highly criticized for portraying wrong standards of beauty for children as young as four years old. Experts suggest that the app should be directed towards age appropriate audience.

Putting children in the race of looking like showbiz personalities can be damaging in more than just one way. Children have a fundamental trait in their first brain development, imitating the actions of their elders and it stays with them throughout their lives. The use of these apps is becoming a norm in society. The thought of manipulating the facial features and creating a slimmer and cosmetic image is very dangerous for young children. The pressure to become slimmer and prettier may cause mental stress and eating disorders in children, and they might try to become like the picture shown in such apps.
