‘Insidious: Chapter 4' Is Happening: Is This The End For Lin Shaye’s Character Elise?

“Insidious: Chapter 4” is already set to hit the theaters. However, fans of the supernatural horror film are left with doubts as to the film's plot, release date, and other details. To clear the air, here’s an update on the possible plot, cast, and release date of the film.

It can be recalled that the "Insidious" franchise only had a microbudget and wasn’t even expected to earn $370 million on its third installment. So, what can fans expect for "Insidious: Chapter Four?" According to spoilers, the film can happen in The Further, an alternate reality to be introduced in the upcoming movie.

It’s critical for the franchise to give the audience more insight about this alternate reality. Director Leigh Whannell may consider digging deeper into this realm in “Insidious: Chapter 4.”

Meanwhile, the plot is still kept a secret. However, it’s clear that the fourth installment will still be rooted on “Insidious: Chapter 3.” The film will pick up from where the Lamberts left during the third chapter, as reported by Collider.

In the last movie's cliffhanger, fans saw Elise (Lin Shaye) creating a feud with the Demon. This is the best available plotline for the fourth installment as a prequel to her death.

Regardless of the plot, critics think that if the producers end Elise's storyline, then the succeeding films may fail. Therefore, if they’re planning to make “Insidious: Chapter 4” the final installment, then this is the best route for the franchise, Cinema Blend reports.

The final cast still includes Lin Shaye, playing a parapsychologist named Elise Rainier. It also stars Leigh Whannell as Specs and Angus Sampson as Tucker.

New addition to the cast also include Kirk Acevedo, Bruce Davison, and Caitlin Gerard. Ava Kolker and Spencer Locke are part of the fourth installment but their characters are still under wraps.

“Insidious: Chapter 4” is set to hit the theaters on Oct. 20, 2017.
