Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) is going to be an uncle in "Sherlock" Season 4. This has been officially revealed through photos BBC recently released. Holmes' partner John Watson (Martin Freeman) and wife Mary (Amanda Abbington) are having a baby!
The released photos of "Sherlock" Season 4 include a rather curious extended family portrait. Watson is seen in the picture holding his baby in a carrier while Uncle Sherlock looks on.
More clues can also be gleaned on the promo pics. According to The Independent, a new villain will likely be introduced in the upcoming new season. The recently released photos include a photo of actor Toby Jones, who is said to play as Culverton Smith. Executive Producer Steven Moffatt describes the new character as the "purest evil" in the show.
Meanwhile, other spoilers also suggest of Moriarty's (Andrew Scott) comeback. However, there are no pictures of Moriarty included in the Season 4 images. Is Culverton Smith linked to Moriarty?
Nonetheless, all these speculations and questions will be answered soon. The first episode of “Sherlock” Season 4 is entitled “The Six Thatchers.” Producers previously hinted that it will revolve around "ghosts of the past," Den of Geek reports.
Cumberbatch described Season 4 to be an "emotional roller coaster" during the last San Diego Comic Con. Co-star Abbington added that the upcoming season is "really dark." It is hinted that "Sherlock" Season 4 will be the show's last.
