A video circulating online contains a bug that crashes iPhone when you play the link. Find out if this is a prank and how to fix your iPhone if you have been its victim.
This week a malicious attack on Apple's devices was discovered involving a link to an MP4 video. We will not have the link available here so that we could not have anyone's iPhone to crash. According to the postings of Redditor, any video link that is sent to you that contains vk-com and testtrial-site-90 domain must be avoided.
Other users report that the video doesn't have to be a delivered as a link. According to Digital Times, Redditor, Varoeldurr the poisoned link on Whatsapp he said, "it crashed my phone."
The link is a short 5-second video when you click it, it will activate the bug. At first, the adverse effects are not so obvious but in a few seconds your phone will slowly crawl and will start to freeze. The video that contains the bug was tested on iOs devices as far back as iPhone 5 by YouTuber EverythingApplePro but no matter which device was used the video did its job and crashed the iPod, iPhone or iPad.
So how can I fix my iPhone if I accidentally click the link? Thankfully there is an easy way to remedy this problem on your iPhone. All you need to do is to perform a hard reset on your iPhone or affected device by holding the power button and the home button at the same time. The phone will restart and once it turns on, everything returns to normal.
This prank is nothing new to iOs devices. Remember the effective power bug from last year that could crash your iPhone by just receiving a simple SMS? BGR reported that a worrisome iOs bug can crash iPhones and automatically reboots the phone when receiving the SMS that contains the bug.
The chances of clicking the link of any careful user who's been informed about this are high especially that video can be hidden behind a Google short link. It is best to exercise extreme caution when you receive a link from your friends or otherwise.
