Black Friday Ends With Highest-Recorded $3 Billion Online Sales; Mobile Shopping and e-Commerce on the Rise?

As the Thanksgiving weekend shopping comes to an end, major retailers like Walmart, Amazon, Target, and eBay will be recording one of their highest weekend sales of the year after Black Friday ended with an estimated $3 Billion online sales. This by far the highest recorded in US retail history.

According to Techcrunch, the estimated $3 Billion online sales was reported by Adobe, which have been keeping track of e-commerce transactions through the holiday. Adobe's final record at the end of Black Friday was $3.34 billion online sales, higher than earlier estimate and 21.6 percent higher than last year's Black Friday sales record.

Mobile Sales have also shot up during the holiday, surpassing $1 billion sales made through mobile. As per report, Walmart reported 70 percent of website traffic on Thanksgiving Day were from mobile, while Target made 60 percent of Thanksgiving sales through mobile transactions.

Also, Apple's iOS devices made more sales compared to Android devices. iOS devices had an average order value of $144, while Android had $136.

Meanwhile, 56 percent of retail website traffic on Black Friday came from mobile devices, Techcrunch cites Adobe, with 47 percent coming from mobile and 9 percent coming from tablets. Sales on mobile devices accounted to more than $680 million by the end of Black Friday; 29 percent made through mobile and 11 percent from tablet.

Adobe's Black Friday report came from 22 billion visits to retail websites and includes 80 percent of all online transaction to major retailers.

According to Cnet, a total of $5.27 billion dollars was made through online shopping with Black Friday and Thanksgiving sales combined. This projection shows that more and more people prefer shopping online to avoid shopping in crowded malls. Adobe's report shows that Samsung's 4k TV, Microsoft Xbox, and Apple iPads were among the top-selling products during this year's Black Friday.
