'X-Men' 'New Mutants' Movie Release Date, News & Latest Updates: Casting Confirmed For Spin Off By Director Josh Boone?

"X-Men" spin off "New Mutants" is shaping up with confirmed casting including "Game Of Thrones" star Maisie Williams signing on as Wolfsbane, "The Witch" star Anya-Taylor Joy as Magik and "The Fault In Our Stars" actor Nat Wolff as Cannonball. Heroes are not the only new sign ons to "New Mutants" as reports say that director Josh Boone's horror take on the "X-Men" spin off will also feature classic villain Demon Bear.

As Den Of Geek reports, "New Mutants" casting buzzed early on over Maisie Williams making her way into the heroes roster as Rahne "Wolfsbane" Sinclair. The same had been true about Anya-Taylor Joy taking on the role of Magik. Citing confirmation as reported by Comingsoon.net, the media outlet also cited Nat Wolff playing Cannonball.

Meanwhile, JoBlo reports that "New Mutants" will be very different from the main instalments of the "X-Men" franchise. More than anything director Josh Boone (who will co-write with Knate Lee, Scott Neustadter, and Michael H. Weber) is anticipated to give the "X-Men" spin off a texture of horror.

Josh Boone is a self-professed fan of both the "New Mutants" and Stephen King. The "X-Men" spin off will give "The Fault In Our Stars" director a playground to combine his two favorites.

Wolfsbane, Magik, Cannonball and the rest of the gang will have a rough time in what is presumably the first "New Mutants" film with villain Demon Bear coming on board. Demon Bear is a tricky enemy for the younger X-Men generation as this particular villain feeds on negativity. Demon Bear is also capable of corrupting the soul and has the power to teleport.

"X-Men" fans should be able to get into the "New Mutants" adaptation when the spin off is released for theaters in the spring of 2018. Are you looking forward to seeing "New Mutants" adapted for the big screen?
