Fans of "Doctor Who" will have a merry Christmas, as the show is slated to air one full episode on Christmas Day as a treat for its followers. The whole Season 10 is expected to air in Spring 2017. According to spoilers, there's an invasion of Zygon shapeshifters in the upcoming "Doctor Who" Season 10. What are they and why are they (possibly) coming?
Zygons are monsters who take up other guises. Fans of the series may remember them from Season 9, when the shapeshifters invaded the planet. To save the human race, they were forced to permanently keep their human disguises. Will they break this peace treaty in Season 10?
Some fans think so, especially after director Daniel Netthein has been announced to join the production team of "Doctor Who" Season 10, Inverse reports. Netthein was the same guy who directed the Zygon episodes in the previous season, and it can be assumed that he will direct the storyline's continuation in Season 10.
Meanwhile, two other directors are also confirmed to be directing for the upcoming season: Charles Palmer and Wayne Yip, Fansided reports. Palmer is no stranger to "Doctor Who," having directed episodes since the third season. For Yip, this will be hi first time to work on "Doctor Who," but he has directed a few episodes of its spin-off show "Class."
The possible return of Zygons is indeed an exciting storyline for the long-running BBC show. At the end of Season 9, fans were left wondering which of the two Osgoods is the real human and which one is the Zygon.
If the Zygons are indeed back, then it is safe to assume that Osgood is also returning. This will be an interesting plot to watch out for.
"Doctor Who" will return to air on Christmas Day, and the entire Season 10 is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2017. Watch the sneak peek of its Christmas special below.
