The fall finale of "Lucifer" revealed Chloe's (Lauren German) destiny and bigger purpose in the fallen angels' life. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer to know more about Charlotte's plans for Chloe, as well as Lucifer's (Tom Ellis) inner dilemma.
In the "Lucifer" fall finale, Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) went out of her way to eliminate Chloe but she spectacularly failed, according to TVLine. Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) told Charlotte that killing Chloe is out of the question because it would only send Lucifer into an incessant murder investigation.
Charlotte then manipulated Chloe into calling Lucifer a liar on the stand so prison warden Perry Smith (Alex Fernandez) -- who killed Chloe's father years ago -- can be jailed but for lesser charges. This deal would surely hurt Lucifer and Chloe seemingly agreed to Charlotte's plan, but she backtracked when she finally took the stand and said that Lucifer does not lie even though Smith gets his freedom.
This put a damper on Charlotte's plans to break Lucifer and Chloe's bond and push Lucifer to leave Earth. A twist, however, proved that Charlotte was just getting started.
Amenadiel revealed to Charlotte that 35 years ago, God asked him for the first and last time to bless a couple that was unable to have a baby. The miracle baby turned out to be Chloe, which means that her crossing Lucifer's path wasn't coincidental and was actually God's plan. This explains why Lucifer's powers are weak when he's in Chloe's presence.
Charlotte sees this revelation as a ray of hope. She realized that Chloe is not an "obstacle" but "the key" in their quest to get "it all back." The question is, how?
"Lucifer" Season 2 will be back on Fox with its eleventh episode, "Stewardess Interruptus," on Monday, Jan. 16, according to the show's official Twitter page. Watch the promo for "Stewardess Interruptus" below.
A recurring guest star will be introduced when "Lucifer" Season 2 comes back on air. Tim Dekay is playing Dr. Jacob Carlisle on episodes 12 and 13.
Carlisle's arrival possibly has fatal consequences. The "brilliant neuroscience professor" will cross Lucifer's path and that encounter "will have deadly ramifications on someone the Devil cares about," and Chloe certainly fits that bill, TVLine reported.
