The "Mythbusters" build team composed of Tory Belleci, Kari Byron, and Grant Imahara are back in a show of their own. Called "White Rabbit Project," it will be shown on Netflix starting December 9.
If you didn't know any better, you would have thought that Netflix rehashed and updated a new trailer for the old series. TheNextWeb reports that the trailer of the new series was recently released on YouTube and it is amazing. Whereas "Mythbusters" tried to recreate strange natural phenomena, Internet viral videos, or impossible scenes from movies, "White Rabbit Project" will instead be investigating and ranking inventions and events from history. They will be using contemporary science to explain historical phenomena.
Fans of Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage will be disappointed that the duo won't be in the show. According to Engadget, the good news is that "White Rabbit Project" is produced by the same Australian production. With the build team investigating historical phenomena, they won't be tagging phenomena and events as plausible or confirmed. The investigations would be to show how these things happened, instead of disproving them.
The three hosts had their own impressive resumes before they joined "Mythbusters." Grant Imahara had worked in creating models for Industrial Light and Magic, also known as ILM. In "Mythbusters," he was responsible for the robotics and some of the electronics.
Belleci also worked as a model maker with ILM. He was trained as a filmmaker, but most of his work has been in special effects. He had earlier worked with Jamie Hyneman at M5 Industries and with Grant Imahara on some big movie projects.
Kari Byron graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in film and sculpture from the San Francisco State University. Since "Mythbusters," she has had hosted several other shows on the Discovery Channel and the Syfy Channel.
