‘Death Stranding’ Release Date, News, & Updates: ‘Hannibal’ Actor Mads Mikkelsen Villain In Hideo Kojima’s Latest Game; Features ‘TWD’ Norman Reedus Also

The first auteur of the video game industry Hideo Kojima recently unveiled his latest masterpiece complete with star-studded ensemble. Not only did "Death Stranding" feature "Pacific Rim" director Guillermo Del Toro, but also the talented "Hannibal" actor Mads Mikkelsen, whose fanbase are clamoring for more details regarding the latest game.

Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" trailer debuted at the Game Awards 2016, where he also received the Industry Icon award. And expectedly, the trailer of "Death Stranding" was, well, creepy given the fact that the game is still a mystery and no information as to its plot has yet been revealed.

PCGamesN reported back in August rumors that the "Hannibal" actor Mads Mikkelsen will be heavily featured in Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding." When Mikkelsen's followers, Fannibals as they like to call themselves, found out about his latest project, they went berserk despite having relatively no idea about the latest endeavor of the actor.

Mads Mikkelsen previously starred in "Hannibal" as the cannibalistic therapist, who garnered enough followers even though the show wasn't a smash. His fans, Fannibals, were quite vocal and passionate even if their numbers are quite low, especially when "Hannibal" was canceled after 3 seasons.

According to Kotaku, the "Hannibal" actor Mads Mikkelsen is set to appear in Disney's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" as Galen Erso, Jane Erso's distant father. He also starred in the newly released "Doctor Strange" as the show's villain.

In the trailer of Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding," it opened with the in-game version of director Guillermo del Toro carrying a baby in a portable incubation tube amidst a seemingly World War-torn era. When del Toro was about to enter the tunnel oozing with a dark liquid, the military men emerged with the black, oil-like liquid coming from their eyes. The unit leader dissolved his helmet only to reveal his identity: "Hannibal" actor Mads Mikkelsen.

Mads Mikkelsen might possess enhanced abilities or supernatural powers as he seemed to have tentacle-like appendages connecting the soldiers to him. As the trailer is about to close, he looked up and lifted one finger to his mouth, looked straight to the audience and to the side, exuding with Hannibal feel.

In another trailer, "The Walking Dead" Norman Reedus will also be heavily featured in Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding." He woke up, naked, with a baby attached to him, much like how the soldiers were attached to Mads Mikkelsen. But the baby suddenly became invisible, leaving only handprints.

Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" game is a console exclusive for PS4 and will also come to PC. However, fans will have to wait as the game is still in its "infancy" according to GameSpot. But The Sun noted that Kojima has hinted "Death Stranding" will be out before the animated science fiction film "Akira."
