GoPro's handheld stabilizer called Karma Grip is now on sale, promising to improve the quality of images taken using GroPro. The Karma Grip will help GoPro users keep their photos and videos shake-free even if they are engaging in outdoor adventures like skiing.
The Karma Grip works with GoPro Hero 5 and Hero 4 Black and Silver, TechCrunch reports. Selling at $299, it comes with a case and a variety of accessories. The Hero 5 Session, meanwhile, will be compatible with the Karma Grip in mid-2017.
GroPro users are sure to find the Karma Grip a helpful tool. That's because most GroPro cameras, except the Hero 5, have no way to stabilize electronic images, according to Digital Trends.
In the past, GoPro users have to buy third-party devices to achieve steadier shots. Now the Karma Grip is set to compete with those devices, including the DIJI Osmo.
The Karma Grip appears to have the edge. A test by TechCrunch showed that while the DIJI Osmo has more controls, the Karma Grip offers superior video quality, particularly when used with the GoPro Hero 5.
The Karma Grip's handle has buttons for turning and off, as well as to change shooting modes. Users can add highlight tags to videos, start and stop recordings, and check the battery status of the device, CNET reports.
The tilt-lock button of the Karma Grip allows GoPro users to point the camera above or below a horizon and keep it there. Tapping it twice will tell the camera to follow a subject and keep them framed in the shot even while the user is on the move.
The Karma Grip cannot stand on its own and has no controls for panning and tilting. GoPro, however, has a ring for mounting the Grip between the handle and stabilizer sections, according to CNET.
