It is official! "Attack of Titans" Season is going to premiere in April 2017. The popular anime series is finally getting its follow up after a wait of over three years.
Anime fans have long pegged that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 is going to get an April 2017 premiere date based on Japan's television landscape. But anime lovers got the solid confirmation to the actual date of the release of the manga series' Volume 21, which hit stores this week.
According to Anime News Network, found in the wraparound jacket band of the new volume to "Attack on Titan" manga are the details to the television series. In July, the animation studio first confirmed that a second season was indeed coming following several speculations and delays.
"Attack on Titan" Season 2 was originally planned for release in 2016, but the production experienced problems. The manga it bases its stories from needed to be completed. Hence, animators had to wait for it to finish to better expand the new season.
The first season of "Attack on Titan" launched in Japan with 25 episodes in 2013. It became a hit and soon found its way to American audiences via Hulu, Comic Book reports. While fans waited for the follow-up season, "Attack on Titan" became a full-blown franchise with releases of live-action films, spin-off TV shows and novels.
But fans still yearned for the completion of "Attack on Titan" Season 2 and at one point, rumors of its cancellation cropped up on social media to the disappointment of its followers. Fortunately, those were proven to be untrue.
"Attack on Titan" centers on Eren Yeager who saw his mother being cannibalized by beings known as the titans. Yeager grew up to join the military and learned to defend the locals from these creatures. But he has also made a startling discovery about the titans' history and his connection to it.
