After much talk, the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff "Mayans MC" has finally been confirmed on FX. Creator Kurt Sutter will be revisiting his biker drama with a focus on a new crew. But fans of the original show are hoping Charlie Hunnam will still be a part of the spinoff series. Will viewers get to see him as Jax Teller in 'Mayans MC'?
Screen Crush reports that the synopsis for 'Mayans MC' has outlined a world without Jax Teller. The spinoff series will supposedly take place in a "post-Jax Teller" world.
Viewers might recall that in the final moments of "Sons of Anarchy," Jax Teller rode off on his bike and was ready to leave everything behind him. He died on his terms -- riding his motorcycle and relishing in the air and sun, instead of going to prison. Check out that scene in the video at the end of this article.
Given this, Charlie Hunnam's involvement in the spinoff seems all set. His popular "Sons of Anarchy" character won't be seen in "Mayans MC." The spinoff series will also not likely feature a lot of the old crew given that the setting will move from the Oakland part of California to the site near the Mexican border, Comic Book notes.
"Mayans MC" will center on EZ Reyes, an incoming member of the Latino biker group who has to prove himself to its leaders. Casting for the part has not yet been revealed. The series is expected to begin production of the pilot episode in March 2017.
According to Variety, FX will likely grant the show a full series order based on the popularity of its original show. "Sons of Anarchy" was a top-rated series on the cable network which made Charlie Hunnam a household name. It bowed out on TV in early 2015 after seven seasons.
