“Goodbye! Boxboy” Confirmed for Nintendo 3DS, Amiibo Also Included

"BoxBoy" is back and has been announced for a Nintendo 3DS release. But this might be the last of its kind as the title of the game is "Goodbye! Boxboy" (Sayonara! HakoBoy!). HAL Laboratory revealed that a special amiibo will come along the release of the third and final installment of the series.

With everyone focusing on the hottest games announced during the PlayStation Experience 2016, Nintendo suddenly unveiled out of the blue the latest entry to the "BoxBoy" series. The game will be released in Japan not only digitally but also as part of the triple pack, according to Destructoid.

Further, "Goodbye! Boxboy" comes with a delightful little "BoxBoy" amiibo. This is the first for the franchise and it will enable the game to unlock "secrets" in-game. A 34-track soundtrack CD is also part of the "Goodbye! Boxboy," Eurogamer reported. Japanese buyer can buy the game and soundtrack in one bundle.

"Goodbye! Boxboy" will be released on Feb. 2 in Japan. But there is no word yet whether the game will hit North America. Although the game costs roughly $6, the whole package will be around $30 in total.

Since the series "Boxboy" has become a fan-favorite for many Nintendo 3DS users, this comes as a whole new surprise. Clearly though, the game won't make it to the Nintendo Switch, with rumors having it as the final installment.

Meanwhile, Siliconera noted that early trailers from Nintendo's website of "Goodbye! Boxboy" showcased Qbby's new skills. It seems from the trailer that Qbby from "Goodbye! Boxboy" will have two kinds of blocks: one turns into a bomb and the other will act as a rocket. He is also seen escorting baby boxes.

For fans of "BoxBoy," they will have to wait for further announcement if "Goodbye! Boxboy" will be released in North America.
