Fifteen years later after its first release in the US, the curse of the ring is still alive and kicking. The horror movie that originated from a Japanese novel is now back with a new chapter where a young woman receives the curse after watching the video that is believed to kill the watcher seven days after viewing it which is also present in previous franchises. The movie "Rings" promised the same suspense.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie "Rings" revolves around the story of Julia and her boyfriend, Holt, as she sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend as he explores a dark subculture surrounding this mysterious tape. As she sacrifices herself, she then discovers that there is a "movie within the movie" that no one has ever seen before.
The movie "Rings" is the third franchise in the USA and is believed to beat its predecessors which starred Naomi Watts who did not return in this new movie. However, the movie still has its trademark antagonist, Samara (or known as Sadako in the original Japanese story) and the thrilling sequences of how the watcher suffers for seven days after watching the video.
As added by IMDb, the new movie "Rings'" cast includes the Italian Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz as Julia and English Alex Roe-Brown as Holt. Together with them in the movie are Johnny Galecki, Vincent D'Onofrio, Aimee Teegarden, Laura Wiggins and many more.
Directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez and screenplay by Jacob Estes, Akiva Goldsman, and David Loucka, the movie "Rings" was originally set for release in November 2015 but was pushed back several times due to studio delays.
