BBC One's miniseries entitled "Jekyll" will now be made into a film and the star of the upcoming flick is Chris Evans. The director tapped to do "Jekyll" is Ruben Fleischer.
"Jekyll" is about a modern-day descendant who begins to show signs of his own split personality so it is expected that Evans will be portraying many roles in the upcoming flick. Fleischer, on the other hand, has directed "Zombieworld" and "Ganster Squad" as some of his famous works. "Jekyll" is based on the famous 1886 story of "Jekyll and Hyde" and the BBC One miniseries "Jekyll" back in 2007, GQ reported.
The miniseries from BBC One was written by Steven Moffat and he also penned "Doctor Who" as well as "Sherlock." The miniseries featured James Nesbitt, who played the role of Tom Jackman, the main character and is a descendant of the original Doctor Jekyll. Doctor Jekyll and Tom Jackman has the same illness, which is the split personality, and they talked to each other via a Dictaphone.
At one point, the character that Evans will be playing will be killing people for fun. It is unclear if Evans will be effective in portraying this as he has not done movies or TV shows that have cruel plot. The descendant of Jekyll, Tom, is said to have a curious alter ego, who is filled with rage, flirtations, and heightened strength and speed abilities.
No other details are available as to who will be starring alongside Evans but The Hollywood Reporter shared that Marc Platt, Ellen DeGeneres, and Jeff Kleeman of A Very Good Production will be producing the upcoming "Jekyll" film adaptation. There is no slated date for the release in theaters yet.
Other projects that Fleischer is working on now are the sequel of "Zombieland" and the comedy "The Regional Office Is Under Attack." He also directed the first two episodes of the new Netflix orginal series "Santa Clarita Diet." This Netflix series stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.
