The third installment of "Pitch Perfect" could be without the Treblemakers as the movie is reportedly going to solely focus on just the girls from the Barden Bellas. In fact, another woman has just officially joined the cast.
Australian actress Ruby Rose, who became well-known for her work in "Orange is the New Black" (OINTB), has signed on for "Pitch Perfect 3," according to Variety. Details to her casting, however, are being kept under wraps.
Daily Mail reports that last October, Ruby Rose was seen with "Pitch Perfect" star, producer and former director Elizabeth Banks, thus fueling speculations she will be joining the movie. Her addition should be a fun one for fellow Australian Rebel Wilson, who is beloved as Fat Amy by "Pitch Perfect" fans.
Meanwhile, as news of Ruby Rose's casting drums up the excitement for the film, Skylar Astin revealed that there's still no certainty regarding the guys from Treblemakers.
"I've heard that they may be taking the girls in another direction this time," the actor told Pop Sugar, which suggests his character, Jesse, and his a Capella group could be out of the movie. But the actor remains hopeful it's not a permanent one, especially since no one has died in the film. "They could always bring [Jesse] back in some form or maybe a spinoff or who knows if he'll be a late addition to the third," Astin said.
"Pitch Perfect 3" was initially planned for a summer 2016 release, but its date has been moved to the holiday season December 2017. Trish Sie will take over Elizabeth Banks director chair, but the actress is still very much involved in the movie.
"Pitch Perfect" was a big box office success when it first hit theaters in 2012 and it was an even bigger success when the sequel came in 2015. The movie is led by Anna Kendrick and also stars Brittany Snow, Anna Camp and Hailey Steinfeld.
