Luke Evans will be playing the villain Gaston in the live-action take of "Beauty and the Beast." The actor said that he's ready to become hated by moviegoers who will watch the film when it is released on March 17, and he's not sorry about this at all.
Speaking with Sky News, Luke Evans said that he's actually quite honored to bring life to the character on the big screen. He hopes that Gaston does make a mark in the "Beauty and the Beast" live-action, especially for the kids who will be getting to know the character for the first time.
"[Gaston is] one of Disney's most loved and hated bad guys," the actor said. "Lots of kids will be running from me when I come to the premiere," he said, adding that he understands this is all part of the process of being the villain in a story.
Fans who have loved the "Beauty and the Beast" animation, which came out in theaters 25 years ago, know that Gaston met his death in the end. It is believed that the character will suffer the same fate in the live-action version.
Meanwhile, a new photo display of "Beauty and the Beast" shows the rest of the characters in their human form, as shared on Twitter. It's the first time fans get a glimpse of Ian McKellen (Cogsworth), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Audrey McDonald (Gerdarobe), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Plumette) and Stanley Tucci (Cadenza).
According to Ace Showbiz, Tutti's character is a new addition as he wasn't part of the original animation. Fans could also expect new songs and lines in the "Beauty and the Beast" live-action to set it apart from the 1991 cartoon version.
"Beauty and the Beast" is part of Disney's push to deliver live-action versions of its well-loved classics. The studio plans to deliver over a dozen more, such as "Mulan," "Cruella De Vil," and "The Lion King." Keep checking this site for the updates about these Disney films.
