‘Star Trek: Discovery’ News And Updates: Plot, Cast, Release Date; Star Trek History Is The Show's Focus?

“Star Trek: Discovery” is the latest TV series on Star Trek. Here are the details of the new show, for now.

“Discovery” will take place before the original film series. It’ll be more of a William Shatner than Chris Pine. As of writing, there are only four names of the show’s cast.

Sonequa Martin-Green from "The Walking Dead" is cast as the lead star of “Star Trek: Discovery.” Martin-Green will play Discovery’s lieutenant commander. However, CBS Television Studios still haven’t commented on the casting.

Michelle Yeoh will play Captain Georgiou who will give life to Starfleet Captain in Starship Shenzhou. Lt. Saru will also be brought to life by Doug Jones.

Lt. Saru is a new alien species in the series who will be the Starfleet Science Officer. Rapp will also play Lt. Stamets who is an astromycologist.

Recently, three Klingons have been named to join “Star Trek: Discovery.” Chris Obi will portray T’Kuvma, the Klingon leader who seeks for unity. Kol will be represented by Shazad Latif, the Klingon Commanding Officer of T’Kuvma. Lastly, Mary Chieffo will play L’Rell who will be the Battle Commander of their ship, Entertainment Weekly reports.

As for the show’s plot, it is expected to be still connected to the original universe of the film series. It will touch the part of the “Star Trek” that hasn’t been touched in any film or show. It will explore the history and will follow the story of a character who has to understand herself first.

“Discovery” will be available on CBS All Access instead of being broadcasted on TV. This is the network’s way of competing with Amazon and Netflix in online streaming, Yahoo! reports.
