"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," "Sing," "Assassin's Creed" continue to top the box office. "Passengers" is falling behind as these three top movies are earning more and more as many people line up in theaters to see it.
The Hollywood Reporter shared that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has gone past the $200 million mark for its domestic sales. "Sing," on the other hand, opened on Wednesday with $11 million and possibly set to earn around $80 million after six days.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" stays at the number 1 spot despite "Sing" being a huge contender. It is expected that it will increase to $205 million in a few days and will have around $90 million more during the Holiday vacation. The $200 million mark under six days of being in cinemas includes huge flicks like "Iron Man 3," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "The Dark Knight Rises," and "Batman V Superman."
"Sing" is expected to get $70 million during the six-day holiday while "Assassin's Creed" is expected to get around $30 million to $50 million. "Assassin's Creed" is ahead of "Passengers." The game-based movie earned $4.6 million while the sci-fi and romance flick earned $4.1 million in the past days. It is believed that more women will see "Passengers" in the coming days. "Passengers" is expected to see $40 million after the six-day holiday. sz
Deadline reported that "Patriots Day" also opened great as the movie earned $64,000 at seven theaters around New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. The opening was only for limited theaters and a wider release is set by January. It is estimated that "Patriots Day" will earn around $75,000 after six days of being out in theaters.
Other movies to open on Friday are "Why Him?" and "Fences." "La La Land" will be having a wide release on Christmas Day. "A Monster Calls," "Silence," "Live By Night" and "Hidden Figures" are also slated to be released in a limited number of theaters in the coming days.
