The Next Global Mission For 'Pokemon Sun and Moon' Has More Rewards But Requires A New Feature

Another Global Mission is being hosted by "Pokemon Sun and Moon" and the details have been unveiled. Despite the first Global Mission falling short from the expected outcome, Nintendo is still giving players another shot at completing the mission, wherein they are offering bigger rewards.

The "Pokemon Sun and Moon Global Mission has been designed to be a little different compared to the earlier mission. Nintendo has challenged Pokemon players to capture or defeat only 1 million Pokemon by using the Island Scan feature.

The first "Pokemon Sun and Moon" Global Mission tasked players to catch 100 million Pokemon for two weeks. It ran from Nov. 29 to Dec. 13. However, it wasn't a complete success. According to GameSpot, since it was such a monumental challenge, Pokemon players were only about to catch 16.5 million Pokemon, collectively. It fell short by a huge amount.

This prompted Nintendo to create a more realistic goal for the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" Global Mission but retaining interest and rewards for its players. This time around, they are only requiring players to capture or defeat 1 million Pokemon from 8 p.m. on Dec. 26 to Jan. 9, 2017, using their latest Island Scan feature, via Serebii.net.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" Island Scan feature will only be available once 100 points have been earned from scanning QR codes in the game, according to GameRant. The Island Scan allows Pokemon players to detect and find Pokemon existing outside the Alola Region Pokedex.

In terms of rewards, once "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players are able to reach the total count in the Global Mission and their account is attached to a Global Link, then they can claim 4,034 Festival Coins. On one hand, if their account is not attached to a Global Link, then they stand to only gain 2,017 Festival Coins.

Meanwhile, for players who failed during the second "Pokemon Sun and Moon" Global Mission, then they will still receive a few hundred Festival Coins. Every player has something to look forward to in case they don't actively participate in the event.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" is exclusively available for Nintendo 3DS. Stay tuned for more news and updates on your favorite game.
