Ryan Reynolds is best known for his superhero character in "Deadpool" and now rumors have surfaced claiming that the actor will be having a cameo in the "Wolverine" sequel called "Logan." The director for "Logan" denied the reports.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the hope of the fans that the rumors were true have been crushed as "Logan" director James Mangold said that Reynolds has not shot a scene for the movie. Reports have surfaced earlier this year saying that Reynolds shot a scene as the Merc With A Mouth for the post-credits sequence.
Reynolds replied to the tweet of one fan regarding the report saying, "Sadly, not true. Prisoner 24601 is on a solo mission." Prisoner 24601 is what Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine, is called when he played the role of Jean Valjean on "Les Miserables." Mangold retweeted the tweet of Reynolds thanking the "Deadpool" actor for clearing things out. Jackman also retweeted the tweets of Mangold and Reynolds to affirm that the "Deadpool" will not be part of "Logan."
The Wrap was the first to report about the possible cameo of Deadpool on "Logan" but Mangold slammed the publication saying that their report was fake. The Wrap, on the other hand, said that they never wrote about the two characters being on "Logan" and edited their article later.
In the past, Jackman and Reynolds shared the big screen on the 2009 flick "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Reynolds' character was later rebooted for the standalone flick "Deadpool," which was released this year. Reynolds noted in an interview in the past that he wanted to see Wolverine and Deadpool in another movie together but felt that Jackman will have to be convinced in a big way.
"Logan" centers on Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine but it is a darker and a sadder take on what happened after the mutant population continued to decrease. The movie also stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier or Professor X, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, and Stephen Merchant as Caliban. Elizabeth Rodriguez, Elise Neal, and Eriq La Salle will also be seen in the movie. "Logan" will be out in theaters this March 3, 2017.
