‘Flatliners’ 2017 Is Not A Remake But A Sequel, Learn The Details Here!

“Flatliners” is an American science fiction film which was first released on 1990. A 2017 film with the same title is said to be released, but is it really a remake?

First stop, the film will still be about a group of young individuals. The cast includes Ellen Page (Courtney), Diego Luna (Ray), Nina Dobrev (Marlo), James Norton (Jamie), Kiersey Clemons (Sophia), and Kiefer Sutherland as Dr. Nelson Wright.

Sutherland also stars the original film as one of the medical students who explores and experiments on near death experiences. Along the way, the students tend jeopardizes their lives as they discover what is beyond death in “Flatliners,” as reported by Variety.

However, there are some details that “Flatliners” is not a reboot of the 1990 film. Some details revealed by Sutherland may confirm the theory for the new movie.

Sutherland revealed in an interview that he’s not a student in film, unlike 1990 film. In the new “Flatliners,” Sutherland will be playing as a teacher.

However, he admits that he is indeed one of the students in the first film. Nonetheless, he changed his name in order for him to continue the experiments that they left behind.

Therefore, selling “Flatliners” as a remake can become a sequel to the 1990 film. Some critics already express their concern of the possible sequel, Cinema Blend reports.

Sutherland’s character can easily help the film’s possible franchise advance. His knowledge and character in the first film is a great starting point for the sequel of the film to explore more and still be rooted on the original film.
