A Female News Icon Will Not Be Replacing Megyn Kelly; Tucker Carlson Takes Slot Making Fox's Primetime An All-Boys Line-Up

Megyn Kelly just left Fox News for NBC and many believed that another female news icon will be replacing her. However, Tucker Carlson was recently promoted and he took her 9:00 p.m. spot making Fox's primetime an all-boys line-up.

New York Daily News reported that America's most watched cables new network, which is a right-leaning channel, chose not to hire their other female reporters to take on the 9 p.m. slot of Kelly. This means that Carlson being part of the primetime is a three-hours male-filled broadcast hour. Bill O'Reilly's show airs before that of Carlson and Sean Hannity's show airs after Carlson's "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

Rachel Maddow is still on primetime but she could not help but comment on the decision to have Carlson on the primetime spot. She said that there are no more women in primetime aside from her. She said that it would be difficult since Greta Van Susteren left as well as Kelly. She added, "I'm not all that girly, and I have to hold up all the girl energy - it's gonna be hard."

CNBC also reported that Carlson replaced Susteren's 7 p.m. slot after leaving Fox News. He was a previous part of "Fox and Friends" and has been a guest host on the 10 p.m. show of Hannity. He also worked for CNN and MSNBC in the past.

More on Kelly's move, she will be hosting a daytime show on NBC and a Sunday evening news show. Her "The Kelly File" Fox show was the second most-watched show in cable news. Kelly's move comes after she and other employees in FOX ousted one of their founding chairmen, Roger Ailes.

They accused him of sexual harassment. Ailes has since left the network and denied the claims. Kelly was also at the center of a Donald Trump drama as the two have commented against each other during the president-elect's campaign period.
