The mystery that has been eluding players since the game's launch is finally put to rest. One player captured on video his first encounter of the intergalactic hostile, insectoid alien race in "Elite: Dangerous." The game developer Frontier Developments acknowledged and verified the legitimacy of the player's encounter.
The massive jellyfish yet flower-looking alien ship was encountered by Commander DP Sayre. He is known in real life as Robert Bettig. While he was playing "Elite: Dangerous" on his Xbox One, was suddenly pulled out of "witch space," the game's term for hyperspace.
So while being pulled into hyperspace, he had to face a bounty hunter who was on his tail. After being pulled, his controls were not working and the bounty hunter in the Anaconda was firing at him. Luckily, his Corvette has shields. But the Anaconda was the least of his worries when suddenly a massive flower-like spacecraft appeared with the space around seemingly appeared to vibrate as it passes.
The alien space ship just flashed its yellow light and then the ship set off. When Commander Sayre's controls came back online, he tried to follow the alien ship only to be unable to do so and his scans only detected "Unknown." You can read the full encounter of the Thargoids on PCGamer.
The player's encounter of the Thargoids ended what seemed like a long hunt for this intriguing hostile alien race. Frontier Developments only dropped some hints and clues about the existing of this intriguing secret in the space combat game such as strange floating objects in space and newly-discovered structures on isolated moons and planets, revealing the location of the aliens, according to BBC.
Since Frontier Developments did not advertise any of Thargoid-related events for "Elite: Dangerous," the first sighting is pretty much a big deal, especially for players who have traversed the game's galaxy in order to hunt these elusive creatures. However, the game's executive producer Michael Brookes responded to a backer's question a few years back and said: "The Thargoids are still around."
He further wrote in a forum that they "will be doing something far more with them in a future release." This is probably one of those events featuring the Thargoids.
