'The Good Fight' Adds Matthew Perry, Rita Wilson & 3 More; 'The Good Wife' Star Julianna Margulies Not Appearing

The premiere of "The Good Fight" on CBS All Access is getting nearer and production is pushing to finish filming its required 10 episodes on schedule. Five new names have been recently added to the growing cast to include Matthew Perry and Rita Wilson. These actors have appeared in the original series "The Good Wife," which the new show spun from.

The Hollywood Reporter cites that Perry and Wilson will reprise their "The Good Wife" roles in "The Good Fight" spinoff. They played lawyers Mike Kresteva and Viola Walsh and recurred in the original series for more than three episodes.

Also marking their return are Jane Alexander, Michael Boatman, Denis O'Hare and John Benjamin Hickey. They play former clients and colleagues of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), who have started their own firm together. The new series covers a year after the events that took place in the final episode of "The Good Wife."

But showrunners Robert and Michelle King have one bad news for fans. It looks like the lead character of the original series, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), will not make her appearance in the spinoff at all.

The Kings said that they have discussed the possibility with the actress, but they agreed Alicia's story already ended when the last show bowed out of television. Baranski also confirmed that she had conversations with Margulies about "The Good Fight."

"She passed the baton on to me," Baranski said, according to E! Online. "She was done," the actress added, saying that Margulies' focus is on being a mom and wife in real life after devoting seven years of her time to her former show.

But the Kings are not completely closing doors on Alicia's return. It's still possible for her to be in "The Good Fight" in succeeding seasons.

For now, however, the show has to make sure that the first season succeeds on the streaming platform. Catch its debut on CBS All Access on Sunday, Feb. 19.
