Hannah Yarker, 20 years old and her partner Kyle Armstrong, 24 years old, are both parents of the fraternal twins, Amaya and Myla. The proud parents welcomed their bundle of joys in April last year. Anaya was born weighing 5lb 9oz and Myla was born with 6lb 5oz.
Now, the twins are turning heads because despite the one-in-a-million chances, both girls were born with different skin tones. Amaya inherited her mother's fair skin while dark-skinned Myla inherited her dad's complexion. "We couldn't believe it," Hannah from Sale, Greater Manchester told the Mirror. "Kyle and I told all of our relatives and friends, 'We've got one of each."
Apart from their differences in skin color, the twins' eyes and hair colors are different, too. Anaya has blue eyes and fair hair just like her mother while Myla is brunette and has brown eyes just like her dad.
Hannah said whenever they go out for a walk, curious people always ask her if the 10-month-old babies are twins and if she's their mother. "I can't walk down the aisle at the supermarket without getting stopped," Yarker explained. "People always comment, 'Are they both yours?' 'Are they sisters?' 'Are they related?"
Aside from their different looks, Hannah said her twins are also developing different personalities. Anaya is a more laid back child while her sister, Myla is always moving. "We can't believe they're twins!," the proud mother said. "They've got the same birthday and the same mom and dad but they're just complete opposites in every way."
According to experts, the odds of such couples producing mixed-race twins have a 'million to one' chance of happening. It is believed that if a parent has a mixed race, the eggs or sperm of a particular person will contain a mixture of genetic codes for both white and black complexion, according to AsiaOne your health.
