"Person of Interest" Season 5 spoilers from the cast of the CBS sci-fi drama hint that everyone on set has been preparing for what could be the show's possible series finale on TV. In an earlier interview with Comic Book Resources, Michael Emerson admitted that the cast and crew always prepare for the worst each season.
"I feel like we kind of wrap things up every season," Emerson said. "And so I think we'll kind of continue in that same vein, maybe with a hint more 'finale' feeling."
Emerson, however, remained optimistic that "POI" Season 5 may still live for more seasons. Executive producer Greg Plageman also expressed the same sentiments as Emerson.
"This has always been a show where every season finale felt like it could have been a series finale. And this year will be no different," Plageman said.
Emerson also brushed up on the possibility that should "Person of Interest" Season 5 be cancelled on CBS, the show could still continue its story in some other formats.
"I think it would be interesting to carry on this story in a different format, you know, maybe a shorter season or, as you said, fewer but longer episodes," he added.
Rumors surrounding "Person of Interest" Season 5 cancellation began when CBS ordered to reduce its episode count and when the network pushed its release to a much later date. This prompted fans to raise a petition on Change.org.
In the said petition, fans aimed to have "POI" renewed for another season in another network such as Netflix. The petition has already received 26,069 supporters as of writing.
"Person of Interest is one of the most unique shows on TV today... Don't let a show we love so much disappear," the petition reads.
